Training FAQ’s
-
Both TBRI® and SFP workshops are designed for caregivers of children who have experienced trauma, stress, or adversity. This includes foster, adoptive, kinship, and biological parents. Whether you're parenting a child with disabilities, managing challenging behaviors, or just feeling worn thin—these tools can support you.
-
TBRI® (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) is a trauma-informed approach focused on healing and attachment through connection, empowerment, and correction. It’s especially helpful for caregivers parenting children with complex parenting needs.
The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a structured, skills-based program that includes both parents and children. It helps build family resilience, improve communication, and reduce problem behaviors by teaching specific strategies for emotion regulation, limit-setting, and family bonding.
-
While it’s not mandatory, attending all sessions will give you the fullest benefit. Both workshops build on each session’s content, and consistency helps reinforce new skills—for both you and your child. We understand life happens, though, and we’ll support you as best we can.
-
For TBRI® trainings, sessions are typically caregiver-focused and are designed to give you space to learn, reflect, and grow. Unless noted, childcare is not provided.
For the Strengthening Families Program, children are often involved in age-appropriate breakout sessions alongside caregivers. Be sure to check your specific workshop details to see what's included.
-
No. We welcome participants from all backgrounds, belief systems, and identities. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive space for every family.
-
TBRI® and SFP go beyond basic behavior management—they help you understand why behaviors happen and offer trauma-informed, connection-first strategies that actually support long-term healing and growth. These are not one-size-fits-all approaches; they’re grounded in science and designed for real families facing real challenges.
-
We get it. You’re not alone—and you don’t have to show up perfect. Come as you are. These trainings are built with compassion and flexibility in mind. Even showing up is a powerful first step.
-

Then you’re exactly who this retreat is for. There’s no pressure to perform, no gold stars for oversharing, and no required activities. This is a place to rest, reset, and just be—however you show up is enough.
-
Expect good food, honest conversation, quiet moments, nature, and people who truly get it. Some retreats include activities like sound baths, hiking, hot tubs, or journaling. Others involve sitting in a circle, drinking coffee, and naming the hard stuff. All of them center connection and healing without judgment.
-
Absolutely. You don’t need experience, emotional vocabulary, or matching yoga pants. You just need a willingness to show up—tired, guarded, tender, angry, overwhelmed—we’ve seen it all.
-
Nope. These retreats are intentionally inclusive. People from all spiritual, religious, and non-religious backgrounds are welcome. Our focus is connection, not conversion.
-
These retreats are for you. We love your child—but this time is for rest and reset, away from caregiving responsibilities. Childcare is not provided unless stated otherwise.
